Finding Growth in Music
Growth Notes was born from the high school students’ exploration into the impact of musical training on brain development and mental well-being. Backed by scientific evidence, musical training heightens cognitive skills, memory retention, and emotional regulation—essential skills for young minds. Beyond its cognitive benefits, music holds therapeutic qualities, capable of reducing stress, boosting mood, and fostering self-esteem.
The organization was started by Claire O’Connor, currently a student at UCLA. A singer herself since age 6, Claire recognized the unequal access to music lessons despite its
proven benefits.
In California, a mere 1 in 5 public schools offer full-time arts or music programs, while a staggering 88% fall short in providing these creative outlets. This imbalance is even more pronounced for children in challenging circumstances, such as those living in homeless shelters or similar environments, who are often devoid of any musical opportunities.

Our skilled team helps local children by offering fun music lessons to children at no cost. The result? Tangible growth in children’s confidence with every lesson.
